Enclosure Design
Here at ZooFab we aim to help at all stages of a project, from concept to completion. The first steps of planning an exhibit can seem daunting, but we can assist you with everything from species selection, habitat recreation, material choice, right the way through to keeper access and planting options!
Our enclosures all fit a brief, that they should work for both you and the animal. Form and Function in balance, producing an enclosure that is both appealing and pragmatic for the keeping staff and species management.
We offer complementary 3D modeling and design service for our clients, so you can easily visualise the project, easily allowing for adjustments and alternations at this stage before we begin construction.
Budget conscious
Having worked within various animal care industries, we understand the budgetary limitations put on collections. Should an estimate be out of scope, that’s not a problem. We are happy to modify designs and material selections in order to bring the costing of a project back down to an affordable level, without compromising on the finished exhibit!
Waterfalls and Pools
A body of water and the sound of a waterfall can really add to an exhibit, not only that for many species welfare its essential.
we can construct both linered and concrete pools to suit your requirements along side waterfalls and streams, with fully installed pumps and filtration systems.
Enclosure Fabrication
We construct our enclosures from a variety of FSC / PEFC certified pressure treated timber for an environmentally conscious exhibit that’s built to last.
We install Laminate and Toughened glass for viewing windows both above and below the waters surface, allowing for uninterrupted viewing with the peace of mind that your animal’s are behind a strong shatter resistant barrier, particularly useful for outdoor housing.
Working with a variety of mesh types, not limited to: Weld, Knit-wire and galvanized mesh, we can produce secure a visually appearing barriers for both you and the public that are Compliant to Zoo Licencing Standards.
Artificial rock work and Concrete theming is where we come into our own, transforming an enclosure into an actual habitat that’s both enriching for animals and delivering an immersive guest experience.
Steel reinforced concrete provides an ideal medium for creating beautiful exhibits that will last against the wear and tear of even the most destructive species.
Life Support Systems
Our Knowledge of the species specific requirements and latest innovations in life support technology allows us to produce an environment that’s perfectly suited to the species in question. Not only that but we aim to future proof these systems should you change the species housed over time.
Heating and lighting
We like to emulate the sun! All the species we house in zoological collections evolved under it. We utilise true infrared heaters wherever possible alongside additional ambient heaters to create the perfect thermal gradient, thermostatically controlled of course!
Ultraviolet lighting is a key component in the husbandry of many species, not just herpetological species, but also for birds and Callitrichids. Industry knowledge is forever advancing and we aim to align our lighting with the most up-to-date information available. We use only the best lighting options on the market, with T5 HO UV lamps being the at the for front of most applications.
We test all our installations with laser temperature guns and solar meters to ensure the parameters created fall within guidance of recommended husbandry protocols, utilizing the resources such as the BIAZA UV Tool.
Plant growth lighting can also be incorporated for a truely living exhibit.
